The Clear My Record (CMR) Missouri Expungement Project at UMKC School of Law originated in 2017 to meet the unmet need for legal assistance for individuals seeking expungement. The Project has grown to form the UMKC Expungement Clinic, which is currently advising and representing low-income expungement-seekers with eligible Missouri criminal records .
If you would like to determine your eligibility and seek assistance, you can begin by filling out this intake form. It starts with a review of key information about Missouri expungement and then goes on to ask you for your personal information and case information to allow us to determine if you are eligible for a Missouri expungement and if the expungement would be worthwhile to you.
While our services are free, you may still be required to pay the court a filing fee (typically around $100) and additional service fees (typically around $60). If you have little or no money and cannot pay these costs, you may ask the court to waive the costs in an affidavit and motion, which if we determine you are eligible, we will submit to the court on your behalf.
Due to a large number of people we are trying to help, it may take a while before you hear back from us. Rest assured, we will review your application and contact you if we determine we can assist you. You are also welcome to reach out to us directly if you have questions or would like an update.
