Marijuana Expungement Assistance Terms of Service

Thank you for using our expungement services provided by the University of Missouri‑Kansas City School of Law Expungement Clinic (“Clinic”) and the Clear My Record Missouri Expungement Project (“CMR”) (referred to as “the authors”). These terms outline the conditions under which you may use our Services to promote the expungement of criminal records in Missouri.

By utilizing our Services, you agree to the following terms:

Non-Legal Advice: CMR and the Clinic do not provide legal advice for the purposes of marijuana expungements. You understand and acknowledge that the authors are not acting as attorneys or offering legal advice through the provision of our Services.

Personal Information Handling: Our Services will request personal information from you to assist the Missouri Circuit Courts in locating your marijuana-related record and initiating the expungement process under Mo. Const. Art. XIV § 2. Your personal information will be stored in our confidential case management system for three years. After this period, we will permanently delete your file, except for a special index used for our internal research purposes, which will not contain any personally identifying information.

Right to Access Your File: You retain the right to access your file. Should you wish to see it or obtain a copy of it, it is your responsibility to contact us and request it before the three-year period elapses and we delete it in accordance with this agreement.

Confidentiality of Information: Any information received during the drafting and sending of the Notice to Expunge on your behalf will be kept confidential. We will not disclose any information without your explicit permission, unless disclosure becomes necessary to aid the Court in expunging your marijuana-related record. For example, we may disclose your personal information to the Court to facilitate the expungement process. This duty of confidentiality extends to all personnel at the Clinic who have access to your information, including students and staff.
