The UMKC School of Law Expungement Clinic is taught and overseen by licensed and experienced attorney/educators who teach crucial lawyering skills to law students while serving people with eligible Missouri criminal records who can’t afford to hire their own attorney for expungement proceedings.

The Clinic's Mission:

The Clinic’s mission is to provide free legal assistance to eligible individuals who cannot afford to hire an attorney to get their Missouri criminal record(s) expunged. The Clinic attempts to assist all applicants, but because it is a small clinic of limited staff and limited funds, there is no guarantee that an application will be accepted.

  • Preliminary eligibility screenings
  • Representation in expungement proceedings
  • Limited assistance for those filing for expungement pro se
  • Educational materials on Missouri’s expungement law
